| A PRENDO REVIEWS |
||
"Prendo don't need to blast their way through the wall - the music does the talking ........ flowing guitar lines and sounds that emanated from a Fender you would swear was made of elastic as he squeezed and twisted melodic, Hendrix-like sounds from the guitar .... he's experienced, professional, and to top it, a nice guy" (Little Nemo - Holley's Comet, November 2003) Full review - click here "The best guitarist we've seen - locally or nationally" (Charlie Daykin, YourK Music) " A truly great guitarist, criminally underestimated" (Tim Hornsby, Fibbers Group) "I would give Prendo a gig every week if I had the chance" (Paul Crossland, Lion Inn, Blakey) "What an amazing performance, what an amazing venue. This man must have sold his soul to the devil a long time ago. A superb night". (Mick, Message Board, Blakey Music) "Prendo was next on stage. Starting solo with guitar, his virtuosity was incredible. Something must have held him back from greater fame! I must check out his website!" (Trevor Pocknell, review of Solstice Festival, Blakey, 2002) "Next up came another stunning set from Prendo, the main man looked like a chunkier version of the Stray Cats singer Brian Setzer and the bass player looked like he would be at home crouched in some boxers corner, but together with their drummer they rolled out groove after groove. They sounded like they had been beamed down from the "Pulp Fiction" soundtrack and John easily deserves his guitar virtuoso reputation". A(Alan Jeff, Matmata Media, review of Blakey Festival, 2003) |

| JAM NIGHT, THE BLACK
SWAN, GUISBOROUGH "Invited by the BBC from his island home in the Bay of Biscay, Prendo took part in the National Music Live scene in York. Having time on his hands before going home, he agreed to front the Monday Night jam at the Black Swan, accompanied by his friend and organiser of gigs whilst John is in this country, Pete Bell, on bass. The superb drummer Paul Tilley who had never met or heard Prendo play, gamely agreed to make up this trio. The music varied from Blues, Folk to Rock. Pete on bass kept the rhythm section swinging along with determined dedication. Prendo played semi-acoustic guitar in such a way that it defied belief. Maestro is depicted as someone who is a master of their art. John Prendo is a maestro. What can I say about Paul Tilley? I once said that this man can talk under water and if he was asked to do so he would do it to the very best of his ability, because that's what he gives you, his very best. He was tried and tested on this night, the boy did well. I only hope we get these three musicians together again in the future. The Jam Night was also covered by Phil Muriel from Millstone Grit on drums, Mick Hutchinson on bass, and Dave Potter on blues harmonica, with Prendo on guitar and vocals. A great night was had by all, in the company of great musicians". (Ralph of Guisborough, "Keep it Live", July 2001 - reproduced by kind permission of editor Colin McCosh)) |
