john prendo with unknown french sax player Based on Belle Ile en Mer, France, for the last decade guitar virtuoso and songwriter extraordinaire John Prendo is now making moves to re-establish himself back on the holy ground.

Prendo’s music defies categorisation. Influenced at an early age by roots bluesmen such as Robert Johnson and Otis Rush and developing the work pioneered by Hendrix, John is eminent amongst contemporary rock guitarists yet remains largely unknown outside of a cult north-east and European following. His songs have rare quality and his compositions synthesise the range from blues to contemporary rock via swing, r & b, jazz, reggae, and Andalusian flamenco.

When playing in England he rejoins his main sidemen - Paul Smith (drums) who, in addition to his work with John, has played with Jimmy Nail, Toy Dolls, Jimmy Witherspoon, Sting, Echo and the Bunnymen, Art Farmer, Don Henley, Noel Redding, Kathryn Tickell, Harry "Sweets" Edison etc. etc.... and Pete Bell (bass) who, after early days playing north east folk and blues clubs, spent a season at Beckenham Arts Lab with Bowie, toured with African Highlife and American West Coast bands, and has recently backed up Neil Dalton's Blue Aces and New Orleans keyboard player Gin Saw. Pete has been Prendo's bassist since they met up jamming at the Lion in the late 80's.

Prendo is also known to play solo gigs.

"The best guitarist we've seen - locally or nationally"
(Charlie Daykin - YourK Music)

" A truly great guitarist, criminally underestimated"
(Tim Hornsby, Fibbers Group)

" I would give Prendo a gig every week if I had the chance"
(Paul Crossland, Lion Inn, Blakey)
