Thunderous!" - Bob Fischer, BBC Radio Tees "They're great! Sound really good and I thoroughly recommend seeing them live" - Matt Seymour, BBC Radio York "Absolutely Tremendous!" - Feargal Sharkey "A breathless barrage of youthful noise" - CMU Daily BIO 3 Foot Ninja are a young indie/punk trio based in the wilds of the North Yorks Moors. Fronted by Jordan Bell (aged 18) on Guitar and Vocals, with his brother Joe on Bass / backing vocals and Kane Waterfield on Drums / backing vocals they've steadily built up a reputation in the region. Their energetic live shows have been described as "spectacular in their intensity" They've been compared to a mixture of bands such as Blood Red Shoes, The Subways, Arctic Monkeys, The Cribs, The Clash etc no band in the north east region sound like them... 3 Foot Ninja supported The Subways during their early 2008 UK tour and have played alongside bands such as Ash, The Fratellis, Cage The Elephant, The Buzzcocks, Wilko Johnson, Pete and the Pirates, British Sea Power, The Airborne Toxic Event and General Fiasco. They've have had airplay on BBC Radio One (when Huw Stephens played 'Sixteen's Legal) and are receiving substantial local radio play (BBC Tees Introducing) including a live session for BBC Radio York Introducing. They've been have been tipped by a few, including the CMU Music Network, as a band to watch out for. 3 Foot Ninja won the national Youth Music Week competition judged by a panel lead by Austin Daboh (music co-ordinator BBC 1Xtra) with Achal Dhillon (A&R Sony Music), James Hannam (PRS Foundation), Jason Lamont (CMO Management - Pete and the Pirates, Damon Albarn, Blur, Graham Coxon, Grace Jones, Morcheeba etc), Adam Ryan (Barfly) and representatives of Youth Music. PRESS Musician Already veterans of 150+ gigs, teen rock sensations 3 Foot Ninja consists of brothers Jordan (guitar) and Joseph Bell (bass) plus drummer Kane Waterfield, who supply blinding songs of rage, determination and power. With traces of the Doors and the MC5 plus British elements of the Damned and the Doctors of Madness, this outfit kicks down the door and comes marching through, taking no prisoners. "Sixteen's Legal" stamps out the year zero philosophy at the heart of the band's impact, and it's clear why the trio's music has had over 30,000 plays from their MySpace site. Catchy, fast and memorable. On their way to the top. Review of 'Sixteen's Legal' - CMU Daily 3FN nominated as one of 16 "one's to watch" out of all bands UK and Eire during CMU unsigned month Listening to 3 Foot Ninja is like the moment in 'High Fidelity' where Rob Gordon hears the thieving skate punks' band, The Kinky Wizards, for the first time - being all about a breathless barrage of youthful noise, despite this Middlesbrough trio sounding less thrift store instrumentation (and the brilliant garage-synths of Royal Trux!) and more 'Smash'-era Offspring. Indeed, the presumably self-referencing 'Sixteen's Legal' rings similarly to 'Bad Habit' from 'Smash', starting off with solo guitar before the full pop-punk assault falls into place, followed by a barking, polemical chorus of "Sixteen's Legal!". Teesside Evening Gazette "Hammering out their guitar-fuelled indie punk the 3-piece from the heart of the North Yorks Moors were sensational. Real dynamic stage presence and what a finale, after a set of their own high octane material they laid waste to The Prodigy with all the teenage angst in Japan." Ian the Druid reviews 3FN at Fibbers, York "Next up were 3 Foot Ninja and while I would try not to argue with the categorisation of a band, in this case I have to say that they aren't punk. They can't be. I don't like punk! The Ninjas reminded me a bit of The Mexicolas. Although, to be fair to them, that might just have been because there were three of them and they were dressed in black. Thrashing guitars and pounding drums are the order of the day, but with more of a rock vibe than an indie/punk one in my opinion. Good vocals and enough variations in the songs to keep up my interest. They may not have been the headliners tonight, but they did end up being my favourite act of the evening." Review of our last CD EP - Dom Smith, Talk Magazine This moors based three-piece are a solid entity to say the least, opener 'Sixteen's Legal' is the standout here and takes on board influences ranging from The Offspring to The Clash. It is both anthemic and catchy and will appeal to fans of rock music with substance. 'Take Hold of the Feeling' is a slightly darker affair. Vocalist Jordan Bell sounds like Jim Morrison would if he were backed by The Alkaline Trio. In 'Cardboard Cutouts' the Ninjas have created the kind of spiky punk powerhouse that rivals any material bands like The Automatic can produce in terms of impact. It's raw and you won't be able to get it out of your head. 'Suicidal Valentine' continues in the same vein, and though it's similar to the earlier works in terms of hard hitting style and the furious tempo, it still beats the hell out of anything the likes of Babyshambles will do. Final tune 'Push Yourself' and its chorus will have you jumping around with the band as they impress you with their trademark performances. It's a typical Northern tune and presents the band's pride and equally, their drive to succeed.
